f150 plow

have an 84 f150 300 4 speed standard and im thinking of putting a plow on it. I have found a complete plow 7.5 western and mount the style that keeps the pump on the truck. my question is what springs should i replace mine with it is sagging at its age and mileage. i have doen some research and it seems there are a ton of options but im not sure what the mount and pump will weigh so i can take that into account.

You can't compensate for the plow unless you put airbags in the front springs. The ride height is critical to the alignment on these trucks, so if you got it right with the plow on it, then it would be wrong with the plow off. Most people rebuild the frontend and get it right without the plow, and then drive it around wrong with the plow on it. If you are going to plow commercially, I would get a larger truck. If you are going to plow just a few driveways occasionally like I do, then you won't be driving it around much with the plow on it, and it won't make much difference. Like I said, if you are really worried about it, then just air-up some airbags when the plow is on it.

I will post some pictures I have with the plow up and the plow down when I was using my old f150. It also had a 7.5 Meyers.

Plow up.

Plow down.

A f150 handles the plow better than I thought it would.

Timbren's are popular with the plow guys too. Cheaper than airbags and cant leak. Like Franklin said, its just gonna be harder on tires when your hauling the plow around, no big deal.

ive seen your truck but mine is worse as it sits untouched.
would air bags be the best option?
i was wanthing to get it flat with the pump and hw on then not sweat the plow since its only for a few drives and minimum dist.

If your truck is not right normally, you need to get it fixed and get it aligned. I would take it to a shop and see what they say about it. Most of the alignment shops I go to will look it over, and then come back and say "we can't do it, this and this is worn out". I say "ok" and then take it home and do the work myself. They usually charge me around $20-$30 to look at it like this. Then I take it back and they align it.

Looks like mine,
I've got a F250 with a 7.5' Meyer Plow. I'd say it's a good 15-20 years old...
My transmission and suspension have been rebuilt twice.
I now need to replace my transfer case after this season of plowing.

Yes, all you need is a way to air them up like in the old days when everyone used the old air shocks to jack the rear of their cars up. They used the tire type valves.
