Don't pull those straight out. Twist and remove-it's a "bayonet" locking type socket, and the bulb assembly can be replaced with a wedge base 194/168 type bulb. The problem I've had in the past with that console type is melting of the plastic "cage" that the bulb socket locks into. The standard incandescent bulbs make so much heat that they tend to melt the sockets, and cause all kinds of problems when you try to remove and replace them.

Yeath they twist and come strait down. The bulbs are accualy made into the socket which i didnt know till the first one snaped out while pulling on bulb. If you want these brighter you need to get the led that shines strait out so it reflects on the reflector and shines back down.

Maybe this one: WLED-x (194 type) Wedge Base bulbs Specifications

the wires on the bulbs have to get bent over the side of the socket? Am I correct in assuming that?

Are all the interior lights in the X the same size socket and are these ones (posted by fgials) the ones that are recommended for more output? If so, I assume then that these are just wasting light? High Power SMD WLED-xHP5 (194 type) 360 degree Wedge Base bulbs Specifications

Does anyone know what kind of lumens you get with these or how much brighter they are?

Thanks

Don't use those for your overhead console. The light output is not very good with those. Use one like this and you will be much happier.

I just read the description of that kit. It says "10+ pcs included for your interior and license plate bulbs - Not all bulbs may be included 10 only
."
The way I count you need the following:

Six festoons for the middle row back row and cargo area lights.

8 of the 194's if you plan on doing the running boards and license plate lights and front door courtesy lights.

I chose to use 3 of these, two for the drivers dome light and one for the glove box. Some guys have just used these instead of all the ones I've listed above excluding the license plate and running boards. In that case you would need 11 of these if my math is correct. (haven't had my coffee yet).

I just would hate for you to order that kit and be missing bulbs, that would be a bummer. For just a few bucks more you can get all the bulbs to do what I listed above. Excluding the reverse lights.

How do the second row dome lights come out to replace the bulb with an LED. The lens does not appear to have clips to hold it in place, looks like it must be remove from the headliner to access the bulb

Tiny flat head and pry the clear lens off. I don't recall there being clips or tabs holding it in.

Never mind the coffee kicked in and I put my glasses on and figured it out. Found something interesting while Googling dome lights

<TABLE id=entries><TBODY><TR><TD></TD><TD id=entry_6038601 class=text colSpan=2>An awesome super large SUV made by Ford from 2000-2005. The SUV for the hard-core soccer-mom. Was designed like a Super Duty truck and was intended for rural or commercial use. But it got popular with suzy-homemakers instead. It's cons outweighed it's pros (poor fuel mileage, not being able to fit in suburban garages, etc) so Ford quit making them. Driving this SUV screams a big "**** you" to all the liberal Prius drivers out there.
Son: Hey Mom, I think you hit that Prius on the way home from Soccer practice!!
Mom: That was just a speed bump, honey...
Son: Then why is there a Door stuck in the grill!!
Mom: Oh crap...not again!! We have to get rid of that Ford Excursion.

Gotta love the X, (more at link)

I felt the front lighting by the front lower consel poor at best. so i added 2 mini spot led lights in the upper console just below the trip/mpggauge, and under hood if you have a 6.0! 6[/IMG]
