The Flowtech's I saw listed to fit were 2 1/2" collectors and not 3".

Not for me w/ a 600cfm Holley and stock heads, but just wanted to make sure you knew they were different. However, there are folks here that know more about it than I do though.

Cliff, I am thinking we should both ditch the idea of headers and run step downs from the exhaust manifolds to 4 inch pipes and run those

4 inch pipes won't do a lot of good, 'some' amount of back pressure is good in an exhaust system. It's way above my head in terms of flow dynamics, it has something to do with exhaust velocity versus cfm.

Bigger isn't always better. I saw glovemeister in another post that you were going to go with a 950 cfm carb? That might be a bit overboard for a 460 that isn't otherwise souped up for racing...

my shop teacher explained it to me like this, to big a pipe and there's not enough pressure to keep the exhaust flowing at a good speed- that helps pull the exhaust from the other pipes and out the tail pipe

A 950 on even a middle of the road built 460 is overkill, a 750 will keep it happy until the 525 hp mark or so.
460 Horsepower Chart (revised 1/24/09) - 460 Ford Forum

For a mild 460, dual 2.5" is fine, same with that W, even 2.25 would probably be ok.

I have a set of Hedmans on my 460, they fit fine, my old 351W I had a set of flow tech's on, they fit well too. .

It was a joke and the 950 I am referring to is a model designator for the holley efi setups. They are usually 900 cfm but the computer can adjust it down to whatever the fuel needs are, however the injectors can by switched up or down.

Yeah I was joking. Look at it this way, what is easier to get flowing a keep flowing water through a 1.5 inch tube or water through a 3 inch tube. Same concept just different sizes.

Hooker Super Comps...you will not be disappointed by fit, leaks, etc. Headers are one of the areas it doesn't pay to cheap out.

I ran/run Super Comps on my 76 V8 Courier and occasionally the bolts would loosen up, even so, they never leaked. The flanges are thick and don't warp and they are just built right.

Others could be fine, but I put my trust in Hookers.

I also have Hooker SCs and they fit perfectly. I put alot of lock tight on the bolts when I installed them. Here's a pic of the room.

fits good with a manual tranny. i got the flowtechs on it now and still aint perfect. drivers side is a bit close to the c6 tanny oil pan. its an easier fix than what the hedman headers i tried are.

Do you plan on crossing over in the front and running them both down the same side? Here's a link to how Hooker says it works well.
