Can a used F150 tuner be used on a 6.0L?
Just a question, not trying to start anything.
I actually asked SCT that question, here's their response:

All you need to do is return the F150 to stock, then get tunes built for the 6.0. once they are built you load them to your tuner and then to the truck. To get the computer code needed to tune the truck, go to Vehicle Info and then Vehicle Info again. You'll see the strategy number you need there.

Subject: My X3
I have a SCT X3 Ford [X3101107011AC] that was programmed with custom tunes for my 2003 F-150 by an after market company. Now I have a 2006 F-250 6.0 diesel. Can I get tunes for this vehicle and use the X3 I have now? I seem to remember a computer code was required by the company that programmed it. What are my options?
Sorry o bump a old trend and ask a stupid question but looking for a tuner myself and just wondering what is ARPS? I see lots saying put your money into ARPS before the turner to help the life of the engine. Thx

ARP is the name of a fastener manufacturer. One of their products is a set of fasteners designed to replace the factory head bolts which are torque-to-yield. Which means that under heavy engine loads they can stretch and create problems at the headgaskets. Those conditions are sometimes met with daily driving and towing, but can be expected to be seen for sure on trucks with tuners and performance mods.
The thinking has been to improve the engines ability to tolerate those increases first, before spending the money on the performance toys.
Also, guys who have to go deep into the engine for certain maintenance and repairs choose to take advantage of the situation and swap the studs while they have the chance.

elite also sells head studs, they are a little more pricey though... riff raff sells both arp's and elite studs (give clay a call)
Another vote for the SCT as well, but H&S and The Spartan Phalanx are also very good choices as they can have custom tunes as well (even an EDGE can be custom tuned (by php)) so My vote is for anything with custom tunes

We will probably have a sale soon on ARP studs as well.
