ABS Light Causes

I am wondering what some common causes of the ABS light being on in a 1997 F150 would be. I am going to take my into a mechanic and have it checked out but I would like some causes and rough costs first to make sure I get a good deal. I appreciate any help.

Most common cause is the rear wheel sensor mounted on top of the differential, it's a five-minute, single bolt R&R...sensor cost is about $15 at a parts store, $25+ at dealer.

That'll likely take care of it.

Is this something that can be done without jacks or jack stands?

Yeah no problem, slide on under...sensor located on top of differential towards front of truck...unplug/unbolt/remove/install/bolt/plug...done.

Both times i had ABS problems with the rear differential, it ended up being i destroyed the diferential and somehow the teeth count would get off in the rear end pulser disk.

Hope this isnt the same for you.
