Ok I just looked through my huge pile of receipts and the fronts were $55/ea and rears $35/ea. Really not too bad I guess, I just remember forking out about $180 for all 4 drums.
Oh, and it was no problem ordering. Literally was in there 10 mins and it was maybe a week for them to get in?

I suspect that the F250 drums are more expensive. Can your be turned? Some NAPA shops still turn (resurface) brake drums.

In regard to Walston's advice,I would also recommend NOT using the really hard brake shoes, like semi-metallic,etc..They will stop better, but will also cause faster wear on your expensive drums.Perhaps not a problem if you put only a few thousand miles per year on your truck, but I do 15-20K,and much is in the mountains with constant braking.I elect to change out my shoes more frequently, they're cheap.I also try to gear down, to avoid constant braking, and the heat/brake-fade that comes with it.

The truth for me is, I wish I had converted to the front disks. I will be doing that before I drive this thing alot. I spent a lot of money putting all new drums, shoes, hoses, cylinders, rebuilding the factory MC, and running new hardlines because my Dad and I decided to just keep it factory for now. After I finished I realized we could have EASILY taken that money and put it towards a front disk conversion for cheaper, and after driving it some I'm disappointed with the drum brakes. I'll probably be selling my whole front drum setup as soon as I get a chance to do the disk conversion.

From my personal experience, the new kid will need all your truck money anyway, however if you want this truck safer to haul young-ins, I would certainly put disc brakes on, dual master cylinder and I would make them power.

However, I am not familiar with a conversion that will stay with the F250 wheels. You would end up with 5 lugs on the front wheels and 8 on the back. If there is one, I don't know of it. My gallery has pictures of doing the disc conversion on my 60 (f100).

If you stay with the drums, you can still add power and a dual master cylinder. Also, having the drums turned is every bit as safe as new ones, as long as there is enough metal remaining, the machine shop can verify this. The last set I had turned were $7 each, but that was several years ago.

Good luck.
