your air is running out that bottom hose which is your crank case vent. you are most probably charging up your valve covers thats why the sound is coming out near the plenums.
Since you have already made up a boost leak detector you might as well hook it up in the right place and put it to good use. You may or may not find a leak but at least that will rule something in or out. Start with 20 PSI but don't exceed 25.
Problem solved guys, it was the EBPV arm that came off and the butterfly valve was staying shut!
Just took off the passenger side intercooler pipe and got my arm down in there and put the EBPV arm back on. Boost is restored and she runs like she should again!
Congrads on the fix, did you hook up your tester to find it? Is the wheel gonna give more power at all? I was under the impression that it just solves the surge issue these trucks have.
Yeah the e clip was slid over so the arm fell off that way.
I did some research and found that another guy had the same symptoms and this was his fix on another site, i checked and sure enough it was the same problem.
The wheel does not add any power at all, it just stops surge, i'd rather spend $70 now instead of $700 later
Yeah the e clip was slid over so the arm fell off that way.
Someone didn't get that clip back on properly. It fits pretty tight. If you are going to remove the turbo for the new wheel install you'll see how tight it is.
Hope you have smooth sailin' on the wheel install.
Installed the new Wicked/X/Banks/Superior wheel today and it wasn't too bad of an install. Did it without taking the turbo out, just removed the intake and the wastegate actuator rod and the rest is just loosening bolts.
As for the results of the install, it spools faster and whistles louder now. Less smoke down low because it boosts quicker which is also nice.
