Outside door mech

Outside door mech
I recently purchased a 1949 Ford F1 and the Passenger side door handle does not open the door. I took the inspection plate off and it appears to be missing the parts that go to the latch? Does anyone know if I can buy the missing parts?

Here one from a '49,
The rod of mine pulled out of mine to the point that it was binding. I had to remove it and to repair it. Since I bought one I replaced mine. be careful that you don't bend the rod like I did. So I wont sell it to any one because it was bent so bad that I would be afraid it wont work right...

After looking at the picture I don't understand why the outside will not open the door?
I can open the door from the inside!
Also when I lock the door the handle does not go down but when it's unlocked it dose but it does not open the door?
Any help is welcomed
