Ah yes... Thanks for saving me there bud. I've honestly never done a leak down test, how does it tell from where it escapes? I just know how the basic theory of them.

sounds simple enough, I will add that to the list of things to do, right along with the compression test. I should do a compression test tomorow I think as I dont have enough time to continue the painting of parts.

Apparently one measures the escape by listening on top of the engine and the indicates where the problem area may lie. Also this is an awesome site...

Use your eyes and ears....
  • Bubbles in radiator = head gasket
  • Air leaking out tail pipe = exhaust valve
  • Air leaking from carb = intake valve
  • Air from oil fill cap is leaking past the rings

Sweet that is much appreciated. I wasn't able to locate that in my searches. Control P on that sucker! Wish I taught this good in college lol.
