starting issues

so i rolled in my parking spot with very dim lights last night, and it wouldnt start, the solenoid would just click. so today i went out and bought a new starter, alternator, starter solenoid, voltage regulator, and a new battery. figured while im there to get all new parts. the lights are as bright as can be so i dont think its a dead battery. when i tried to turn it over it just clicks. i tried to jump the battery side of the solenioid to the "S" terminal and still clicks. any thoughts or ideas to help???

Check your battery anyway i have purchased brand new ones before that had a bad cell or two that would keep my truck from starting but would allow great lighting and such....also check to make sure you have a good gound connection with the engine block, the frame, and the body of the truck.
Best i have at this point....if thats not it i hope some one else will post and i will learn something new myself. Best of luck.

What do your battery cables look like? The starter draws so much current, that barely any resistance in between the battery and the starter is still enough to create a voltage drop large enough to keep the starter from turning over.

I always try to remember to get any part like a starter and alt checked right out the box while I am still in the store, they look at you funny too, like who cares........

But I usually in to big of a hurry to remember since I am in the store to get parts for a broke truck.

Since you got EVERYTHING else new, just go get some new cables and clean those frame grounds.

Just for some tips. A lot of starter issues are fairly easy to fix with a little knowhow. Tear them apart, clean a few things, replace brushes and springs and such with a rebuild kit, which aren't to expensive, and best of all, still original. Most starters that are taken back for core are quickly re-built, cleaned and waiting for the next sucker to make the swap at the parts store. No offence to anyone.
