I like the cords with lighted plugs, they help me remember to unplug them when its dark...................

I agree, the lighted cord does help. I am pretty good about remembering, but if I forget a few times I drap the cord over my mirror so I see it when I get in. Sounds like I need to upgrade my cord size, at home I run a 14 gauge 25' cord, probably not enough

14 ga is good to 15 amps for up to 50 ft. 16 ga is good for 13 amps for up to 50 ft. No need to rush out and upgrade, you are well within the limits.

You can run lighter and/or longer cords, you just get more loss. The wires won't burn up; not even close.

What is critical is that the connections are good, that is where heat will build up.

Anybody consider one of these? Auto eject plugs Kussmaul Electronics WP Auto Eject, 120 Vac, 15 Amp

I don't ever use my block heater, it doesn't get cold enough down here to justify the additional power usage. I just came across the thread and remembered back in my Volunteer FF days all the trucks had these auto eject units. They usually worked lol

Marinco Mod

I have been wanting to have the Marinco for my 2002 F350 4x4. Maybe one of these days I will. It would be nice if Ford would have the Marinco or something like it, like the Big Rigs have. Heck, for the up front cost it would be great. Sure would beat the cheesy set up the PSD's come with. Just my 2 cents.

I had a couple of questionable batteries in my truck so as a quick fix I hardwired a 'Battery Tender' quick connector to the passenger side battery and I'm ashamed to admit how many times I've driven off with that damn thing still plugged in... Fortunately, the quick disconnect on the truck and the quick disconnect at the charger have saved me from damage every time but my neighbors are probably wondering why I'm down at the corner of the street wrapping up "random" electrical cords laying by the crub...

I was going to move it to the driver's side but finally just bought two new batteries...

At 10x the cost of a Marinco, I'll just drape the cord over my mirror and increase my chances of remembering to unplug it!!! (I have picked up my cord 1/2 way down the driveway a few times... )

Something I have looked for in the past was a chrome plug like you often see on Big Rigs. None of the dealers, parts houses or chrome shops I've been to have ever had them or knew how to get them...

Yeah I know, it has already coated my entire truck and back porch!

4 years, 75,000 miles and no veggie oil related problems. Except the mess!

i had the marinco mod for a year or so and the cover not staying closed left me wanting....did some digging and found the zero start products carried by your local international dealer.....you do have to buy the cover and the cord though....costs about 75 bucks......

I got mine from Mack last year. You have to get each part separate but I think it was only $25 or so.
