Flushing radiator

I'm flushing the radiator for the 3rd time and every time i refill it,it only holds 3 Gal. I thought this thing according to the manual hold 27.5 quarts? What might i be doing wrong?????

Just flushed mine last week. Make sure you drop the bottom radiator hose and the drivers side hex plug each time. I was putting in only 4.5gal on each flush.

You probably have some air trapped in the system. Drive it until it reaches normal operating temps, then park it and let it to ambient temperature. Then check your degas bottle and top off as needed. Repeat as necessary.

That's exactly how it was when we flushed my dad's '03 a few weeks ago. Draining the radiator only gets about 3.5 gallons. To get more, pull the rear block plugs. The driver's side is easy and will get you another 1-2 gallons.
