I have seen them on TV, and they look cool. Plus they come really cheap compared to custom paint.
While out I saw a company that does it near where I was, and dropped in. They told me roughly $2300 for a full wrap on a 66 F100 LWB. So about the same or a little cheaper then a single color paint job.
The up side is I can have my truck wraped in digital navy camoflage. I may even get it a bit cheaper if I use the non-auto grade wrap. Its stickier then auto-grade so if you put it on a good paint job it will pull off some of the clear, but on my truck the paint is messed. So I am free to use the other type which is stickier, and probily more durable to boot.
Jesse, have you ever seen the detail on a body wrap, some of the graphics are awesome, thats all I'm saying. I dont want a $500. job on my truck & I'm not a body man.
We did a swimming pool for a guy that had a newer Powerstroke with a RealTree or something or other camo wrap. You can get just about anything you want, wrap-wise because he's got advertising for his business on it, too. I think he spent 4k on his, but like I said, his was custom with his business advertising on the camo back drop. The wraps look AWESOME.....but, I went to Bass Pro Shops a couple years ago and they had a new 'Yota truck with a camo wrap. I don't know if it was just a cheap wrap or what, but you can see where curious people picked at it and tore it.
I had an Astro van done bout 6 years ago with a 5 year guaranty and of course it started fading fast.18months later quite a bit of it was gone.24 months later almost all of it was gone.On the upside you can deduct every single dime!(if it's advertising). In hindsight I would much rather have paint.Keeps the signpainters and airbrushers busy which I like.Signwriting and pinstriping need to be keep alive.Just my 2 cents.
