My Dad had a WW2 vintage British 4x4 with a flat head Ford V8 in it. I don't know the displacement off hand but do have a few pics of the truck I'll have to scan and post for you.

I scanned the pic but afraid I cannot get it to load on my reply - rather poor quality and nothing of the engine unfortunately. Anyway as I said, the vehicle was WW2 vintage and had a flat head 8 that believe it or not, had no starter. You had to insert the hand crank and with a little practice I could get her going first flip. Super cool truck, if only I had it now..
