my truck has a 351w. it sat for a long time before i bought it. i got it running, when i replaced the spark plugs i looked into the chamber and noticed it looked like *****.
i now seafoam works good for alot of things, should i slowly pour some down the carb? i already put half a bottle in the fuel tank and the other half in the crank case.
i runs a bit rough, just want it to run better. i do have a bad exhaust leak too. headers should be here tomorrow i hope.
That'll work. I like to pull the vacuum advance tube off the distributor and stick it in the bottle, allowing it to suck it in itself as you bring up the rpm's. Also plain old water does a fine job of steam cleaning the cylinders and plugs. Just doesn't run as well.
i got another can of seafoam today, ill do go ahead and do what i can. what other lines can i run the seafoam through? ive read the break booster hose but dont want to go ahead and do it without knowing.
also, tell me more about this water/steam cleaning trick. ive never heard of this lol. sounds fun though. thanks!

It's just an old guy thing. Probably was discovered when someone popped a head gasket from water jacket to cylinder. When tearing it down they discovered than the cyl and plug had been completly cleaned. A lot of good things have been discovered purely accidentaly.
Vac booster port will work on the Seafoam, I just use the ported vac on carb as you have control over it. It will only suck the Seafoam in when you open the throttle. So you can let the smoke clear a bit whenever you want.

.
Or it was discovered when they used water-methanol injection in WWII airplanes.
so where do you suck the water in at??? i really want to try this, i like the idea of it.
dump it right down the carb.. actually drizzle, dont dump. Get it up to temp hold it about 1500 rpm and slowly drizzle it in, Id say no more than 1tbsp per second. It will make some noise like detonation. I've done it before but never verified if it helped.

I always have used ATF and water. But was doing this long before Seafoam came around.
Seems like the ATF softens it up some before the water. Works for me any way. Seafoam prolly do about the same as ATF.
Understand ya can damage a valve doing this if a big chunk comes loose. But Damn the smoke show is awesome. Make sure you are outside and the wind is blowing at yer nosy neighbor's.
lol, no leaks. just took the old exhuast system off. got the new headers on and the drivers side is way to close to the drive line. im hoping the exhaust shop can heat em up and bend to where it suppost to be.
