i just picked it up today and under the hood was really dirty so when to the car wash and cleaned it. drove it about 1 miles shut it off started back up and notice a little miss. i left and started driving didnt notice anything till under a load at low rpm it chugging and can feel it through the vehicle kick it down to 2nd and above 3000 goes away. prior to all this i drove it about 25 miles and not a problem. Could it be a wet coil? it has 104k and from what ive been told never had plugs or cop. where is a cheap place to get motorcraft cop ? thanks brian
Hopefully it's just some water under the cop. Can you blow them out (remove cop first)with compressed air? I got a decent price on new ones from a sponsor, rockauto.com. Do a search on Cops for many other sources.
I would go ahead and get all the plugs and rubber boots changed. It's way overdue if it was never changed.
Your COP may not be bad, but you could get one or two extra COPs if you like as a spare back up. You may not need to change the COPs. They run about $45 each + shipping for OEM from Rockauto here as wpnaes mentioned. If you want to change them all, multiply by 10. Ouch, huh? Don't change them if you don't need to, but do change the boots.
Plugged in my scanner and freeze frame data reader #5 and #10 misfire. Try and dry them up and get it till weather warms up and change the plugs and boots. Is there any diFfernce is the cheap boots? And I am only gonna run motor craft plugs. Thanks for the info guys!
