I will for sure let you guys know, I am planning on taking pictures as well. I am going to get the pipes cleaned and painted tomorrow while I work on my ford 9n tractor.
I just installed the 4" MBRP S6204409 kit today and it went really well. I loosened the downpipe clamp but couldn't pry that sucker off the turbo. I had to cut the downpipe before the crossmember for removal. While doing this, the downpipe broke free of the turbo and I brought down and out from under the truck.
I had my wife get on the creeper and hold the bottom of the downpipe while I sweet talked it into fitting up to the turbo. I thought this was going to be a complete PITA as she couldn't tweek the bottom enough to get the downpipe flat against the turbo. I showed her which way to move it and she instantly got it right and I was able to get the clamp on. I snugged it up enough so it wouldn't come off then we started putting the rest of the system together. Very easy. Just attach all the pieces loosely with clamps in place (also loosely) then start twisting and pushing up on the whole sysytem in different areas, you'll see it kind of self adjusts. Make sure the bottom of the downpipe clears the heat shields and especially the first u-bolt clamp before the crossmember. That was a little close. Once you have the clearance, tighten the downpipe at the turbo then work your way back.
Some people have said the had to unbolt the bottom of the rear shock to get the tailpipe through there. I didn't. I just fished it over the axle from the rear and it went right in. I put a small piece of wood on the tail pipe to space the tip away from the body. I also cut about 5" off the back end of the tailpipe so it wouldn't show through the tip.
All in all it was one of the easiest installs I've done on any of my vehicles. I'd say just take your time, especially during the finally tweek here/tweek there stage while you're adjusting the whole sysytem to fit properly. I really thought the downpipe intall to the turbo was going to be the death of me but all of a sudden it just ift perfect. I AM ALL THAT IS MAN.. with the help of my wife .
locknload, the exhaust looks great! When it comes to picking an exhaust i would go 4'' turbo back. When it somes to stainless carbon or aluminized you should take in to account of where you live and pick accordingly, if you live where they salt the roads heavily like i do in Michigan then go stainless. The price you pay is up to you they all flow about the same if you spend 300-600. I scored my banks 4'' turbo back from a guy in Penn. for $200 on CL. You should have seen me trying to put it on in the hotl parking lot by myself it took about an hour and a half to get the down pipe on, and another hour to get the old one off, i could snake it out so i cut it in half with a hack saw, lol it was all i had.
I myself went with the MBRP S6200P and used stepped band clamps. I also wrapped the down pipe 30' with ThermoTec wrap. I am very happy the way it turned out.
Just order the S6200AL from RiffRaff tonight. Pretty excited, hopefully ill have it by next weekend so I can get it on. Im tired of listening to cab drone!
Notes from my exhaust install yesterday. It took me and my friend about two hours taking our time to remove the old and install the new system. The band clamp on the turbo housing is a PITA but after some persuasion it came off without much complaint. I did end up cutting the old down pipe right before the tranny cross member and the exhaust pipe right after the old muffler to get the curved pipe over the rear end. The new up pipe even being a larger dia. was surprisingly easy to install through the firewall and the rear of the motor. I then put everything together loss and aligned the system and tightened everything from front to back. You need to watch the clearance around the rear shock. I really like the way the black paint I used looks on the system and will post pictures later today.
I did notice the EGT seem to be down a little, throttle response is better, and boost also seems up a little. The sound is not that much louder than the stock but does have a nice low tone to it outside. Interior cab exhaust sound is nonexistent; nice. I did now notice the jet sound from the EBPV this morning while warming up the truck though.
We will see if the sound changes at all over the next few days. Pictures to follow:
Ok, here they are. I used some paint reducer to clean the oil and dirt of the exhaust pipes and then painted them with the rustolum flat black 1200 deg. paint.
Ducci that looks great! I cant wait to get mine on, I really hope it comes this weekend, its my only free weekend for a while haha. How does it sound when you get into it a little bit??
Thanks man but the painting the exhaust was your idea.

One thing I have noticed when I put my foot in-it, is I can hear the turbo more. The truck definitely spools up faster. Everything I have ordered from RR has shipped to me very fast but I am also in Cali.

I do like the sound a lot. It has a nice low tone to it.
If it was me I'd spend the $$ on something else, you already have 3 1/2" with a straight thru muffler. I doubt you'll see anything out of a 1/2". If I would have known I'd have never cut out a perfectly good exhaust. JMHO
This is my question too. Not to hi jack but is there really a difference in egt's between stock exhaust with a straight through muffler and a 4" system?? I think the stock system has a 3" DP and the rest is 3.5"?? I just need some insite before i spend $300.
Looks good! I only had three pieces plus the muffler, you have five plus the muffler. I know you have a longer wheelbase than I do but I wonder why so many more pieces. Maybe a couple shorter pieces adjust better than one long piece? I'm just curious, how's your configuration? I have the downpipe, long straight pipe, muffler, tailpipe. Thanks, like I said, I'm just curious now.
