That doesn't surprise me at all. You're talking about two smogged down engines, especially the 460. Emissions equipment hurts power and MPG. Your 460 is around 8:1 compression with those large chamber heads and grand chasm pistons. Not sure on the newer Dodge but it's surely smogged down which doesn't help. Most half decent engine designs can easily get 1 HP per cubic inch with a mild build without getting spendy.
Yeah the v10 is damn impressive but just doesn't put down the numbers you would think. Not the engines fault but just regulations. I wonder if it would be possible to take that block a v10 and naturally aspirate it and remove all the sensors and junk?
