Dec. 17???

4L11

4 = 1964

L = November (see link)

11 = 11th day.

Ford Date Decoding id

It should be a 5 bolt bell, the old style.

Thus, it will not bolt up to the later 289, or any 302, 351w/c or 240/300 bells.

What's the plan for it?

What about the C5AE-6015E casting numbers above the starter? It is in my 53 F-100 with an FMX behind it. I will check bell tomorrow, But i'm pretty sure it is 6 bolt.

The 6 bolt was "65 1/2", so they must have produced them well in advance. Good that it has that pattern. Should be a decent motor if it ain't wore out.

6 bolt bellhousings came out for the 1965 model year for everything except Mustangs. Unfortunately the first, late 1964 Mustangs, were referred to as 1965 models so forever confused the issue.

Thanks for the info, It's the first SBF i've owend. BTW it's rebuilt with a Edlebrock intake and four barrell. Sounds really sweet. It was an ebay purchase and the guy didn't send the paper work with the deal as promised.
