I am open for any an all ideas. Thanks for your time.
Check to see if your tach moves while cranking. If the tach doesn't move while cranking, it's a failed CPS. The CPS is one of the most common causes for a truck to suddenly and without warning die, and not start again.
Pocket (likely) has you covered. If you need a new one, first I would check and see if you've had the recall done for the CPS. The recall gives you a new "grey" CPS as a 'fix'.... if you can get that freebie, get it. If not.. you'll have to buy one. Even if you get the free one, I'd still buy a "black" CPS - your truck will thank you for it.
You should bookmark both those websites - you'll save a bunch by buying through them. There is also www.partsguyed.com for other OEM parts - all 3 will take care of you, as will any of the other sponsors of this site. Good luck.
Ya thanks tach works and oil press. gauge works .I am tryn to think of anything else but i am get at the end of easy ideas. thanks for the input. steve.
My truck died in traffic a couple of weeks ago, killed my batteries trying to start to no avail.Got towed and turns out to be clogged fuel filters.Seems to be the answer so far. Hope this helps.
Did you check your fuses? The reason your buddies truck died when the fuel bowl heater shorted out is because that fuse also powers the truck computer. No computer = not running.
If it died suddenly, also check to see if the tin nut came off the back of the IPR.
The tin nut holds the IPR together, but it is rather flimsy. It is a rare occurance that that would happen, but possible. The IPR is a valve that lets oil into the heads or lets it drain back to the pan. It also varies the pressure that the injectors see from the HPOP by regulating the drain back rate. An intact IPR will not cause a sudden shutoff, but can contribute to hard starting for sure.
Just tryed new camshaft position sensor and still nothing? This stuff never happen when its a sunny warm day.lol Guess i ll have to pick up a scanner an see what it tells me . Hopefully it tells me something , Thanks for everyones help an ideas. Steve
