what kinda of truck do you have? What drivetrain are we working with? Do you use your truck off road or are you running bigger tires? Im assuming that its a 4x4 but we need more info on the truck before we can start helping you.

it is an 89 f150 with a 5.8 and a c6. it is 4x4. i plan to switch out the rear end with a larger one out of a 250hd or 350. i am going to put a 4 inch lift on it with 33 to 35 inch tires. as for off roading i will do a little bit of it.

the Dana60 (solid front axle) is definatly the toughest SOB axle out there... That being said off roaders covet them and the price for a good D60 king pin, high pinion is $800 bare minimum... and usually they run $1200 pretty easily. I like my D50's (IFS or TTB) they are tough enough to take off roading a little, 33's do just fine on them, and they are cheap and easy to find for a couple hundred bucks or less sometimes. The D50 TTB also gives a better ride quality for a mostly DD, grocery getter, or odds and ends truck jobs... The only reason you would really need a D60 is if you are doing 35's and serious off roading. That being said there is a little more maintence on the front end of buying a D50... Ball joints, bushings, etc...

Definitely go with the dana 60 solid front. Its plenty strong and won't get out of alignment when your new springs settle. And, because of differences in leverage, it will actually give you slightly better articulation. The only drawback is that they usually run about $1000. Sorry wallet. But I put one in my 94 F250 and I love it and never had any trouble with it.
