My door chime just started beeping at me today in code I believe. After I start the truck it will beep 5 times, wait a sec, beep 5 times again for a total of 5 rounds of 5 beeps. What is this thing trying to tell me. Oh, and its a '99 SuperDuty XLT 7.3. Thanks guys

 

Does your SRS (air bags) warning light come on when you start the truck? I have heard, but never witnessed, that if the SRS warning light is burnt out the instrument cluster will chime to warn you. They figure SRS is important enough that you need to know if the warning light is not working.

 

It's telling you to see your owner's manual (the answer is inside it).

 

Hmmm.....airbag light was on and i took the cluster out today to replace some illumination bulbs and noticed the airbag light was off but the bell was ringing. Interesting.

 

The air bag light should come on when you first turn the key to run, along with all the other lights so you can see they are working. If it does not, it's not working. This light is tested, by either the cluster or the ABS module, not sure which. If it isn't working, the dinger warns you.

 

It has to do with the light that's out. You'll also notice on long drives that it will keep repeating every so often.
