ICON ????

New to the forum. On my second X and have found this forum very helpful. I would like to get some feedback on the ICON 5" all spring lift. I see that a couple of members are running it. I am trying to decide between the ICON and V/B code swap. The largest thing I tow is my 24' boat. Thanks and glad to be a member.

Howdy and Welcome, can't give you any feedback on the ICON 5" lift but I will say the V/B spring will not give you anywhere near 5" of lift.

So my question would be: What is your end goal?

I am looking to put some 35's on it w/o a huge lift. The V/B swap would be with a hanger/block lift. The ICON lift is all spring and from what I hear is a quality lift. I have read a lot about the V/B swap on the forum and have already put the V's on the front. I have Fab Four bumpers waiting to go on, but don't want the hanger system to hang down below the bumper. Saw that a couple members had the ICON lift and was looking for some feedback. Thanks guys.

From what I have heard, the ICON lifts are the best ones for our trucks. Rather pricey though. If you want to run 35's, as long as you dont take the truck off road, you will be ok with the v codes up front. Thats what I did and I love it. My X handles like its on rails around the turnpike on and off ramps.

I am running 325/65-18 with V/B and the 4.5" ICON spring hanger kit. A 3" ICON spring hanger with V/B would clear 35's. I looked at the all spring lift but decided to go with the V/B and spring hanger kit because it appeared to be better for towing applications. I have a 10k lb travel trailer with 1300lbs tongue weight. For you lighter towing applications the all spring lift should be fine. I have heard it rides well. The ICON products are very high quality. We are extremely happy with the lift and how it handles loaded and unloaded.

I don't think the spring hanger kit would look bad with the bumper. The hangers look better than the other parts of the ford front end that may hang below the corners of the bumper.

RED EX I APPRECIATE THE INFO. DO YOUR HANGERS SHOW BELOW THE FRONT BUMPER VALANCE?

The eye of the spring is just above the bottom of the black bumper valance. You can just see the bottom of the spring from the front and have to look real hard to see it as only the bottom 1/2" of spring can be seen. I took a picture of the view from the front and from inside the wheel well but am having trouble trying to get them uploaded. I will give one a try.
