SCT Custom Tunes

I'm in the market for an SCT Programmer. There's a lot of different options out there from what I can see. I've heard all sorts of advocacy for Innovative and DP Tuner. I've heard Jodi's name mentioned. Has anyone used any of the tunes from MKM Customs? They claim to have a guy Mike that has been doing their in-house tuning for quite some time. Just trying to weigh all the options.

Thanks,

I got mine from Matt @ gear head automotive. I can't speak on behalf of the others you have mentioned but Matt's are awesome. There is a lot of talk on Matt and Eric from innovative, if you do a search you will find some threads with lots of discussion on tuners and tunes.

I have tunes from Eric and Matt.
I like Matts SRL tune for a DD, smooth power and great shifts.
Erics tunes are good also but his power come on like a powerband where Matts is all through the RPM range.

i run matt's tunes and truck source diesel tunes. they run the same being that they work together on there tunes from time to time. being that we basically have the same truck im sure you will be more than pleased with matt at gearhead!

I chose innovatives.

You will hear good and some bad from innovative, quicktricks, gear head. The bad is only from the transmission shifting. Some truck here and there just do not shift right with some tuning.
You will not go wrong with any of the 3.
Also, SCT X3's are very cheap used.

I want blame it all on mkm but I will blame some...... They fried my turbo!!!!! The tune I got wasn't creating enough boost at idle to cool the turbo and it burned the seal then causing my center housing to wear in turn costing me for a new turbo.... THANKS. But with all tunes it's at your own risk.

Thanks, not for the info, but for the laugh as that was the dumbest thing I have read in a long time.

Bought three tunes from Matt @ gearheads and am enjoying them completely with my SCT. Turbo is spooling up like a gasser. Truck is pretty much stock, non-studded engine, stock exhaust... But the egr cooler fell off.
No problems.

In all seriousness, boost don't cool down a turbo. Oil cools and lubes the shaft/bearings. Allowing the turbo to cool down after a hard run/drive and before shutting down will allow the oil to cool the shaft/bearings. Shutting the motor off when EGT's are above 400* can cause the oil on shaft/bearings to coke.

Do you have a EGT gauge?

Great reply! That's something I didn't know..... Ur comments are welcome unlike that other dick up there! I was just going off what I was told. But as we speak I finished up installing the "reman" turbo from Pensacola and it want build boost!!! Actuator works just no boost. Either the ring is stuck or there isn't one. NOT A GOOD DAY!
