96 with defrost only..

96 with defrost only..
My brother in law just picked up a cherry 96 4x4 4.0l std cab short bed 130,xxx sweet little truck...anyways the selector for air direction turns but air only comes out the defroster.. The truck has hot and cold, all speeds work just cant direct it..

There is a vac operated door that directs the flow to selected position. Check to see if vac line is broken/missing. Should be visible under the dash. With engine running you might be able to hear vac leak. Check under hood as well for a vac line leak on line that runs inside.
