Hey guys im looking at installing a set of aftermarket headlamps on my 99 expedition xlt. The ones im look at take two bulbs a 9007 and a 9005. My factory lamps only have one bulb the 9007. I was wondering if anyone has put on a set like this and what they did to wire the second bulb in. Any info would be helpful, thanks
My Mom and Dad live in Maryville....anyway,I took a look at the link, and figure your OEM headlight buckets use one lamp for both High and Low beam.
These(as you stated) have two lamps. From what I can tell, youll need to go to a salvage yard and pick up some sockets.Wiring them should be a breeze. Otherwise you could keep looking for some aftermarket lamps that only use the one lamp.
Unless you are "electric savy" id suggest the latter of options.
If you ultimately decide to go with the two lamp model, let me know.Ill give you a few pointers on how to seperate the High/Low beam circuits.Pretty much a no brainer....
You could also try parts stores - Napa, Oreilly's something like that. Most of the time they carry replacement headlight sockets. If they don't, they can order. Save you the time of chasing through a salvage yard. My guess is they are about $10 each. Here is a link to Amazon.com for a 9005 socket.
