After about 5 miles from my normal place to purchase fuel, My truck bagan to run bad and the check engine light kicked on. Mileage dropped to about 8 MPG. This morning, the truck would not start and after 2 can's of dry gas, I was able to start it (barely). I stopped at the place where I purchased fuel and at least they admitted that they has to shut down yesterday, stating they received a bad batch of fuel from their source.
Now the fun begins...How do I get the "bad gas" out of my truck?. I now have about 1/4th of a tank. I tried to run a line to siphon the gas and I can not get a line far enough into the tank.
If your truck is new or still covered by warranty, get it to your dealer, and file a claim with the gas station's insurance. They admitted having a problem, hopefully they want to keep your business.and will make this right. good luck
I would add a couple more bottles of "heat" to the tank and fill it to full with some "good" gas. Since you only have about a 1/4 tank now, filling it up should dilute the bad stuff enough to burn it off. Just run your newly full tank down to as close to dry as you are comfortable with then fill it up again, you should see your mileage return to normal after a few fill ups.
I got a bad load of fuel once in my motorcycle and it wrecked the motor, cost me over $1500 and the gas station refused to pay for it. I told them I would never do business with them again and they didn't even bat an eye, they didn't care one bit.

You forgot to tell him to drain and clean out the carburetor bowl and jets, check the dwell angle and timing (in that order) and replace the oil in the oil-bath air filter.

Thank goodness we've come a long way from those "good 'ol days"!
Call the service station (or their corporate headquarters) and ask for their insurance information. File a claim, take it to a dealer and have the tank dropped, cleaned, filter changed, etc.
I'd also push for a 100K extended warranty on their dime if it were me.
If they balk about it, then they need to go talk to the distributor and recover their funds.
I would be tempted to place a notice in the local newspaper. And of course I'd simply stick to stating my experience with the bad gas at station XYZ on 8th and Elm St..
