Hey you want a deep aggressive sound Flowmaster told me to go with Super 44 with 3" in & 2.5" for anything under 400hp anything over can go 3" in & out. I am putting the Super 44 on mine.

does it have that deep throaty sound to it? where does it come out at?
yes maverick i have thought about a cam but i don't want to spend a ton of money on the 6. i just got myself a new job that pays a hell of a lot better than my last so the 428 is slowly becoming more of a reality
man i hope to see some progress out of this thing. the 300 i6 would be an interesting hotrod build, to say the least, but if your mind is set on the 428 then more power to ya because those motors are damn good. let us all know of any ricers you spank. any good story would be greatly appreciated.
well it's the moment of truth guys!! i'm flying out monday morning to get my dent!! i'm beyond excited and i can't wait to see theold girl up close and personal finally!!!
Awesome!!! I was excited to see my truck.. I asked my dad what happened to this old truck we used to have.. turned out it was parked in the back lot for 8 years, just waiting for me to remember it.. So i walked back.. there it was in all its glory. And then the picture came together when i remembered that 460 sittin on the pallet in the shop and saw the motor was missing from the truck..
The 351m/400 is a Cleveland block. Some people say it's not a big block but I always considered it as one. My first car, a 78 Bronco, had one.
I call the 351W (Windsor) a small block- it's in the same family as the 289 and 302.
i knew the 351/400 was built on a cleveland block. and the cleveland is a big block from what i understand. ive always knew the windsor was a small because it has a few interchangeable parts with the 289 and 302.
diesel-kid.- ill trade ya my 351M for your 300 haha. and i finally got mine off to be painted! my ol beast will be Ford ultra blue pearl metallic with silver pin stripes. she'll be done just in time before i start drivin! and im glad you got your truck there diesel. congrats on that
While the 351M/400 does have some parts interchangeability with the Cleveland motors, they do not use the same block. The 351M/400 uses the 385-series transmission pattern (429/460), while the 351C used the 302/351W transmission pattern.
Big block/small block are usually used for describing Chevy motors. Given the numerous Ford engine families it is easier to refer to them by their series number (i.e. FE, Y, 335, 385, etc.) rather than big/small block.
yeah this is confusing. my 16 year old brain is boggled beyond repair from this subject. i asked it on the yardsellr ford block and we almost got into an argument! ive heard the 351/400M is a 335 series motor. as well as its own M block
well my 77 is sitting in my driveway safe and sound, i've already started changing the look and pulling parts off the make it look less like my grandpas truck and more like mine. i removed the bug deflector, the camper tie downs, the home made headache rack, the standing spare tire in the box, and a couple other minor things. i've already jumped in with 2 feet on the maintanance side of things...so far i've done the distributor cap and rotor, plug wires, plugs, horn, replaced the battery tie down with a proper one, changed the oil, fuel filters (all 3), air filter, steady bearing, adjusted the clutch, changed multiple bulbs/pigtails, and there is much more to come. she needs some love but cara-lynn (aka the 77) is the greatest thing ever in my mind right now and i wouldn't trade it for any vehicle on the road , i'll keep you guys posted on whats to come!!

the 351m/400 is indeed a 335 series motor (which is the 351c, 351m, and 400) but it has a taller deck than the 351c. 351m/400's have a big block (429/460) bellhousing. to drop a 429/460 between the framerails of a truck that had a 351m or 400, all you need are the motor mounts (i'm referring to just dropping it in, not hooking anything up).

yeah itd be an easy conversion cause of the bellhousing but i dont think imma do that to mine. haha. ive heard what youve told me from other guys but it helps narrow down whether if it is or not. Ive heard the 335 is a small block motor.
diesel-kid: git-r-done buddy. remember this, your truck wont break your heart like a woman will. stick with it haha. but get her all purdied up and pick up a few for the evenin n cruise.
well the 428fe is looking like a reality!. i'll end up with a c6 behind it and i'm swapping out my dana 60 with 3.31 gears for a different D60 with 4:10's..should be interesting! won't happen until next spring because the motor/tranny and rearend all need rebuilding but at least it's gonna happen!!
This truck is 2wd right? Are you planning to keep the stock size rear tires? If so you are going to hate that 4.10 rear with the C6 unless you do an overdrive. You will be spinning some pretty high rpms on the highway (like 3500ish), something a big block doesn't like. My suggestion is to keep the 3.31 and drive it a while to see how you like it. I think you will find that the 428 will have plenty of torque to get it moving fast even with the high gears.
