Guys, back to the original issue here, the part to replace the license plate bracket with the normal insert, 30 bucks, just a simple part you order from Ford. Then, you have three options, mount the plate above the opening yourself, try to get away with not having it, or finally, as I am doing, get a grille guard and mount it on that. I was getting the grill guard anyway, but it provides a good solution to the issue outlined.
On the gas mileage thing, I agree, we all wanted better, but moving a 6000 lb truck with amount of power this thing has, averaging 17-18 on the highway ain't too bad. I think it is just easy to complain about that right now because of gas prices, but its a truck, not a prius.
It appears to me that the EB doesn't do any better on fuel than the 5.0L, so I for one would save the $750 option and just go with a 5.0L that will do the job just fine. The HP and torque are more than adequate on the 5.0L and a little less to go wrong.

Do you have the part number or can you get it for me? I went down to ford and asked them if they had a piece that would fit in place of the plate and they said no. I would love to just go there with the part number and order it that way.
As for all of the people crying on here about the wood grain color or the front plate location its simple, dont but it. You are missing out on one bad *** truck. Take a test ride in one but find one that has some miles on it and a bit broken in some. This motor will change your mind once you do.
And for the guys saying the gas mileage is no better than the V8s you should stop smokin the wacky tobacky. You have 2 less cylinders and if you dont have a heavy foot and kick in the turbos constantly you are guaranteed to get better mileage.
I am averaging 18 mpg with the ecoboost. Id be lucky if I got 12 mpg on my 06 F150 lariat with the Triton motor. I just cant believe you would call it a deal breaker because of the front plate or the wood grain. Really, the plow thing I can totally agree with but if your plowin you show be using a F250 at least.

Having spent several days in either truck I can tell you that you will see a consistent 1-2 mpg better gas mileage. I suspect on trips over longer distances that gap could widen even more. Maybe it's just me, but if they're rating the EcoBoost at 2 mpg better on average, then I'm assuming there's going to be a noticeable difference. I suppose if you are constantly towing then it might even out more over time.

It was a deal breaker for me. But there was more to it then just the offset plate. It pushed me over the edge on which F150 to go with. I've now been enjoying my 5.0 for a month.
Now, just wait until that first visit at your dealer for whatever service or warranty work. When they notice you've replaced the offset plate with the standard plate and the regular bumper pads (not sure what they are really called), I think you'll be in for some potential warranty issues. Ford changed their design for a very specific reason. And no amount of crying
about the Magnuson Moss Act will help. Not that it helps you anyway.
I'd think twice about making this change. Ford made their design change for a reason. The plate blocking the intercooler effected it's performance. To me, that screams an insufficient design. And as an engineer, that concerned me. But hey, for me, it no longer matters. I own my 11.
To me, the offset plate is a warning to all the Chevy and Dodge drivers lookin in their rearview mirrors to get outta the way!! Eco boost coming through!!!!!
