27 years in the waiting

So I finally, after 27 years since my last 66 slick, have acquired a "new" one. The first pic is the one I had in High school. I was broadsided by a camaro and my dad and I found a 65 donor and put the chassis and front clip from it on the 66. My new one is the same colour and I just love it. Anyone know where I can locate a set of "U.S. Mags" like the ones on my old truck? Would really like to duplicate the look.

That is a good looking truck. If you take off for Calif. today, you may want to put some sand bags in the back for weight. Walmart of the south in of town had them for about $3.50 a bag.

Thanks Bill, Spoken like a true Arizonian!

Allen, Good tip, may look into that. I have studded snow tires on the truck now as well as the stock street tires on steel rims plus 2 spares in the bed. I am not on any schedule so I have 2 days to get home and enjoy the scenery taking it real slow. Just goes to show you that God does have a sense of humor. Weather said it was supposed to be sunny yesterday and today with no snow He showed them

Ya, sunny and warm yesterday, I got about 1-2" of snow out here, I'm about 40 miles uot of Bend, and it is still snowing. Enjoy the country here, I came from the bay area up here in 1975 and stayed.

Thats one nice 66 you found. Im looking for another one myself. I had one back in the day and it got around fine in the snow with about 5 bags of sand over the rear axle and a good set of snows. I still have the motor out of it in my garage waiting to go in my 63.

That pic was taken over 20 years ago. It was the second slick I owned. I originally bought it for the motor. It been wrecked like yours. Put it back together and drove it for a few years. Kept the motor parted the truck out as it had sever frame issues that I didnt have the cash to address at the time.

You looking for a set of wheels like these still?

I am considering changing to black steel wheels with moons and rings. So the Mags would then be for sale.

Sorry for the crappy pic. It was shot in 2000 and digital cams cost a lot back then so I just had a cheap one.
