Does anyone have or know where to find a blow up of the front axle of a 78 f150?
All this time I thought that they were DANA 44's now peole are telling me that they are Spicer 44's!!
Regardless the local part stores cant seem to find a schematic or parts lists. I want the needle bearing and seal for the outer axle and maybe whatever seal or bearing that the inner axle rides on/in and maybe the upper and lower ball joint. I also need the washer that the spring rides against(spring retainer ring) for the manual lockout hub.
Hope this helps, Dana made the axle, Spicer makes the u-joints......I am sure #Dummy will be on here soon with all the exact part #'s and there locations.
Well my axle is the one with exposed u-joints. That schematic has the enclosed u-joints.
I can't seem to tell what seals up the inner axle to the housing to keep water, etc out of the differential (pumpkin) section.
OK, I finally found an older hanes repair manual in my stash of manuals. It shows the passenger side having a seal that is installed from the inside of the pumpkin housing. I'll just assume that the driver's side is the same way.
And I'll assume that there is NOTHING that is suppose to go between the inner axle's u-joint flange and the axle housing. Except maybe a little grease????
