Now that really would work. My '77 F100 (gallery) was a three on the tree. I would love to have that truck back.

Are you saying you converted a floor shifter to column shift? That sounds like it would be difficult.

I have the dual tank system on this 89 F250 - but I wish I had a single big one. Seems simpler, even if less redundant.
though I don't really mind this current setup. I've never had a vehicle with dual tanks. It's neat.
The front holds 19, the rear 17, for 36 g total.

My brother once took a picture of a sign somewhere in Canada that read "No vehicles without dual tanks beyond this point. Next available fuel 450 miles."
Personally, I like being on a long road trip and seeing that I'm running low on gas. No problem. Flip the switch and full tank again. Plenty of time to look for a gas station.
