How much play should there be in the driveshaft center support bearing? I have developed a slight vibration at around 35 mph and was doing some checking underneath and noticed that I have about 1/4" play in the rubber surrounding the bearing.
sorry, forgot to say that my truck is a 1977 f350 camper special. it is a long bed. i thought it was called the center support bearing although i have seen some call it the carrier bearing , but dont think thats right. but its not a cardan joint.
Always heard it called a midshaft bearing. Or that's what the parts stores around here call it. My dads 76 has one and it doesn't have a whole lot of play. Its been awhile since I been under there tho

1/4" slop in the rubber mount sounds about right. They are built that way. You want zero play in the bearing. Inspect the rubber webbing for breaks.
