lug pattern

Is the lug pattern the same on a 97 f250 as a 79 f250? Are the rims interchangeable?

Isn't 97 the year the F-250 started using those 7 lug wheels?

1997 Ford went to a metric pattern on the F150 from the previous 5 on 5 1/2" pattern that they used for over 30 years. I'm not sure when the changeover was for the bigger trucks. I changed mine out to a 5 on 4 3/4" pattern to accept aftermarket wheels.

To my knowledge the 97 3/4 tons had the same pattern all the way down to......when ever they should work. i think it was 98 or 99 when they went to the 7 lug light duty 3/4 tons.

The F250 Light duty ran from 97-99. In 2000, the 250 distinction was pulled and it became an F150 with the 7700 weight package.
I don't think the 7700 F150s have the 7 lug wheels, but I could be wrong.

I researched this before and this is what I have found:

1997 the F150 went to metric. Any pre-97 F150 rim should have the same pattern as a earlier truck

1999 the F250/350 went to metric. Any pre-99 f250/350 rim should fit.

I am not sure about offset and backspacing though...... If I am wrong on the above, please correct me.
