What sort of life have you been getting with your e4od transmissions? I have a 1994 f150 with a 302, 2wd with 3.08 gears that I am thinking about putting some money into, but I don't want to dump in a bunch of money if the tranny is near the end of it's life.
I have about 115k miles on it and had the torque converter replaced at 105 k miles. It is serviced regularly and sees a mix of city and highway driving.
i have 275,000 km on my 91 f10 4x4, have had two rebuids, ist on i sure caused by previous owner, the last one about 30,000 km pull a 23 ft trailer and a boat on top of truck, seems good now with all the upgrades but i'm inserting a 351 w and an aod soon just not enough power
They are expensive, mine was $1400, not incuding installation or tax, $1800 total in a 4x4.
Mine went out at about 115,000. When the converter was replaced, did the shop check out the rest of the transmission and give you an opinion? They can last as long as 175,000 or as little as 75,000.
unfortunately the truck had the TC replaced right before I bought it by the dealer, so I couldn't get an opinion. I'm hoping it will last for awhile though. It sounds like it might last another 70k or so without too much problem. I had a taurus that I drove really gently that made it to 200k before a rebuild.

p.s. - what parts usually fail besides the Torque converter?
