Are you talking about the stick of dynamite I'm bout to set off under this truck? Haha just kidding. Kinda just want this thing to be normal for a change. Even considering just having my stock ones rebuilt! I'd love some stage 2's but that means so much more than just an install. Tunning turbo trans hpop and no telling what else I'll run into with my luck. Thankfully I have my ranger for backup!

I'm told that if you put a 1.0 housing on your stock turbo, it'll handle stock AC's just fine and so will your 17* pump... all you'd have to do is get your chip reburned. A set of new AC's is $1700 from Clay...
Humm! Yea I've been toying with the idea just not sure yet. Right now all I want is it to be like a powerstroke is supposed to be!
Either way, it'll be a TON better than what you've got now, right? Man, it'd be sweet if you went from dog to DANG!!! You never even experience "right"... you just scare the crap outta yourself!
Well my truck is back running! I know I left some of you guys hanging on out there with questions not answered. Needless to say I ran my ae and could not build any oilpressure what so ever. Led me to one very worried conclusion. HPOP!! So tonight
I decided to swap it out with my original one(thankfully I had not sent it in yet) and boom it's running again!! I looked closely at the pump that failed and there were peices of brass pushing up from around the seal. That can't be good! Even when I set the pump
On my table and the oil ran out of it you could see the gold tint to it. Now I'm worried what kind off damage may have been done! I just didn't want to point the finger till I knew the pump was the problem for sure. I feel like I was taken for a sucker. I mean less than 300 miles! Not even a whole tank of diesel. Anyway tomorrow I'll make that call and see
What happens!
This still doesn't explain why the HPOP reservior was so low.
I'm not sure Dan but I will say before I pulled the pump off I checked the level in the res and it was empty. So I left the plug out and had my wife crank on it and it took 8 sec and oil was gushing out of the res. So I reinstalled the plug and tried to crank it. I had oil pressure on the dash and on my ae no icp. That's what lead me to belive the hpop. Unless something in the pump going out would let the res drain back through the pump? I don't know! It's still on the trailer and it was late when I finished it but I will check the level in the res before I start it this afternoon. What do you guys think caused this premature failure.
Sorry to hear about your problems. I wonder if a worn lpop could of caused this? Maybe call around a little and see if you can get some expert advice. I don't know how you would clean all that stuff out of the oil system.
Thing is, it looked like it was coming outta the drive side... I have no idea what went on inside, but if it was coming out of the back only, would it have contaminated the HPOP system? Seems to me that he might only have a contaminated reservoir instead... just thinking out loud.
That pump was only on there for about 3 days and my old pump was and is still holding up. One thing different I noticed after I had installed the spr1 is that at idle the truck would make a slight growling noise but it was like growl pause growl pause and I would only hear it at idle. I talked with a few guys with a bit more experience than me and they said run the truck for a day or so then change the oil and not to worry. Still nervous. I did talk to beans and they want me to send it back to find out what happened. I really am nervous about trying another one! I'll have to limit myself to 300 miles and buy extra tow coverage to cover the 150 bucks to haul it home. Haha
David, the reservoir was bleeding down because of the debris in the front seal letting oil by. No worrys there. That stuff will probably settle in the oil pan. Being brass though, you won't be able to use a magnet to clean it out.
If anyone installs a pump and you can actually hear it at idle, that's not good.
