My truck died on my way to church. I was going around a curve coasting then I noticed my it had died. It has a black cps about 6 months old and when I'm trying to crank it my tac does come up. Only thing odd is my oilpressure gauge doesn't move. Thought that was strange so I checked the oil level in the truck and it was full. Then I checked the level in the reservoir and it was about half full. I'm driving home to get my ae. Any tools that I should bring back with me? And any thoughts?
This is your problem right here.
Cracked oil pickup tube is what I would check for.
Overfill the crankcase by (what is it guys?) 4 quarts, lift the rear axle as high as you can to tilt the engine forward to cover up the LPOP intake.
Refill the HPOP reservoir and begin attempting to start the engine.
Wow, Dave... I sure hope you get this figured out. I guess I "like" what Dan had to say as well... thing is, if it is the pickup tube, you have to drop the motor to fix that, right?
I'd wanna get it on the dyno! I bet it would put out more than my truck even if it was running!
What, the Pontiac? That would be cool! I bet the HP #'s would be better... I think your truck would win over on the torque #'s, though. I really hope that I can get some dyno #'s on my truck while stock with all the mods I have now so I can have a reference for when I get the chance (if I ever do) to get some sticks, a turbo, and a tuner.
Well my truck is back running! I know I left some of you guys hanging on out there with questions not answered. Needless to say I ran my ae and could not build any oilpressure what so ever. Led me to one very worried conclusion. HPOP!! So tonight
I decided to swap it out with my original one(thankfully I had not sent it in yet) and boom it's running again!! I looked closely at the pump that failed and there were peices of brass pushing up from around the seal. That can't be good! Even when I set the pump
On my table and the oil ran out of it you could see the gold tint to it. Now I'm worried what kind off damage may have been done! I just didn't want to point the finger till I knew the pump was the problem for sure. I feel like I was taken for a sucker. I mean less than 300 miles! Not even a whole tank of diesel. Anyway tomorrow I'll make that call and see
What happens!
Man, this is unreal! I think you're almost outta the tunnel, though... looks like all that's really left is your sticks. Decided what you're gonna do for sticks, yet?
