Well, i have decided to go with a GQSSB. It is time to upgrade my truck from a 38R. Im really looking forward to this turbo, i hear great things about it. going with a complete mount kit from Irate Diesel.
Inquiring minds here too Ken, still learning about all these upgraded turbos plus they'll be 3 smiling faces with this 3 way deal , if it works that way...
Yep. If it hasn't broken in a year and a half of abuse at 450/1000, I figure 500/1100 should be okay. I'm just trying to make sure my buddy with the CTD stays in his place, **behind me**.
Joe, I think you'll like the 38R. I put a van turbo on my truck to sell it. Once the van turbo lites up, it really lites up! But the 38R definitely spools quicker and feels smoother power throughout the rpm range. Gotta take tuning into consideration as well.
BTW, I just pulled the intake tube off and checked the turbo yesterday -- zero in & out shaft play, and just a little side-to-side. I'd be happy as a lark with it if I didn't end up with bigger sticks than I originally planned on.... I run it between 35-40psi and it's it great shape. Go figure.
