73 to mid 77 (no license plate slit) will work with current front fender curve. 78-79 will maybe but might hit front fender and and grill shell at top curve of bumper.
I thing 80-86 has a different top edge curve and will not fit, but I am only using some old memory.
Best try a 78-79 (has slit for license plate) and space it fwd (1/4") to clear fender and grill.
Guess I need to do a little measuring. I was more concerned with it lining up with the frame, but now that you mention it there isnt much clearance between my current bumper and the fender/grill. The truck in particular is an early 80's model. The bumper is about all thats left of it.
77 and 79 will swap back and forth with no issued, 80 and up will not fit at all, 80-86 the ends are angled in quite a bit and would hit the lower and the 87 upare too norrow, they fit under the front fender. However, ford Vans all the way up into the mid 90's had a similar style bumper, the shape is identicle but I don't know about the frame width for the mount holes.
The salvage yard had a TON of vans with lots of good parts on them, I will check there.
Mine had a grill guard put on but I'll just say it was ill fitted. I dont know if it was this way when they installed it or if they hit something, but it was pushed back, breaking the grill inserts. The bumper is bent, and once I took the guard off it was worse than I thought. Basically going to rebuild the front over the next few months. Found fenders for $40 each. Inserts are salvagable if I fix them and paint them black. Need a new grill shell eventually if I want it to look finished. Bumpers are $30 at that yard.
Vans from mid 70s-1991 is the same bumper but mounts way different. If I was going to do a van one I would make shure to get a couple of extra bolts to fill the vans stock mounting holes & then drill the correct holes in it & mount it just like your stock one.
