Standpipe question

I plan to change injectors in my 04.5 Excursion. I am thoroughly confused about the oil rail standpipe. I've read if removed replace with new or throw away the o rings and replace with new when you reassemble or leave the standpile in place and remove it with the oil rail and more. My local dealership told me you could only get the o rings on a new standpipe which seems like a waste. Is that true? If not where might I find repacement o rings? I picked up a new standpipe while I was there. At $58.xx I would like to return it unused if I can. Looking closely at the new pipe the o rings appear not to be ordinary o rings?? One more question for now " What are the D rings and where are they?" As you probably are aware, this will be my first injector r&r.

Thanks for reading.

ok a "d" ring is part of the injector. not much to worry about unless its broken.
you can reuse the standpipes we do it all the time not going to be an issue.
to remove the oil rail you need to remove the stand pipe first.

Thanks Cheezit,
I feel better about starting on it tomorrow. I had no idea a long shank T40 torx would be so hard to find. I think I have it covered. Advance Auto had a kit with about 3" torx (T30 thru T50) that fits in a provided 3/8 drive socket. Next time I see a Snap-On or MAC tool truck I'm flagging him down. I'll let you know how the injector project works out.

Injector update

Removing and replacing the injectors is taking longer than I had hoped. This being my first, I'm not rushing.
After all the questions about the stand pipe I found the 2 piece with the hex head in the Excursion. The sucker was tight. I broke it loose with a 1/2" pull bar. Of course the top section came out and I had to wrestle the bottom section out. A little bit of scratch marks at the connection so I am putting a new one back.
I also had a heck of a time breaking the oil rail T30 bolts loose. I promise they were torqued way too much. Then while replacing the oil rail, 2 of the torx bolts broke with very little pressure on a 3/8" ratchet. Has anyone had this issue?? I gave up for the day and walked away. Tomorrow I will remove the oil rail again, dig out the broken bolts, get a couple of new ones and resume where I left off.
The actual injector work went very well.
Learning as I go. Thanks fellows!
