Calli, i know you already ordered your parts but for future refference or if some one else needs them here is another option, if you are near a caterpillar dealer,
...silence than " the generic stuff we got in the 55 drum. the only thing we got is the vc-9." i called my orielly parts house guy do you guys have coolant additive (sca) ? no we dont . he called me back ten minuites later hey ------- ford down the street has the vc-9 stuff you want me to get it for you?..
I wonder if they just got their numbers mixed up, since VC-8 is the coolant additive (SCA) and VC-9 is the flush.
Steward it appears to be right if you go the link you posted for the VC-8 and look in there it is what they say vc-8 and vc-9. Also that is a great link for Motorcraft fuilds. Where do you find this stuff. Good job!!

I'm not sure I understand your post.
429 F100 posted the places he talked to referred to VC-9 as the SCA package needed for the conventional "green" coolant. I figure maybe those places just got it mixed up with VC-8, which is the correct name for the SCA package, since VC-9 is the coolant system iron cleaner.

Sorry I miss understood what you where replying to...DAAA And as far as the Holiday Inn I think I better check in for a night or two to get up to speed HaHa Sometimes I am just down right eat up with it?!?
my point was most people don't know the differance between original old style green anti freeze and elc even the people in the bussiness.parts counters / even at the dealership where i get most of my body parts a ford dealer in raleigh nc. just like most of this generation mechanics got to have a scanner and a fip chart. the old days of is it getting gas ? spark ? listening to valvetrain ? ect... are gone im glad i learned from the old guys before they all were gone setting points adj carbs and what not.

Yeah, can you see the service writer and mechanic if someone brought in an old school '65 Mustang with a 289 and wanted the dealership to do a tune-up?
I bet there are mechanics out there that have no idea what points are or how the dwell affects the ignition spark.
Not that any classic Mustang owner would ever take their pride and joy to a dealership, just using that as an example.
