Thanks William

It's easy with all that priceless info in the tech folder. And the years of knowledge shared by so many on this forum.

Hope they get his truck back up and running.

Thanks for all the replys.....what his truck is doing----wont run over 40mph,about 20 minutes it will shut down, wait appx 15 minutes and it will start back, changed fuel filters yesterday (problem was befor the change)..draining the fuel lines (for water)...drain open, turn the key on to pump a little fuel out and don't get much...pump is humming for a short amount of time then gets quiet.....Thinking eather tank is stopped up or fuel pump is out......

Well, you can take the cover off the top fuel filter to figure that one out. Just don't use the 1/2 inch socket hole in the cap if you can. 24mm socket works best.

Take cap off and see if the fuel is getting to it. Key on will start pump.

It's normal for the pump to run for about 30 seconds then shutoff if the motor doesn't start. All you have to do is recycle the key. Are you sure that the fuel tank is full? These trucks are notorious for having bad fuel gauge senders.

Plenty of fuel.....will the pump shut off with the drain plug removed?

Yes. It's only if gets a motor run signal that it will stay running as there is no fuel pressure sensor to control it.
