tranny running a temp!

so iwas on my way home tonight on a normal 70mph cruse down the highway when my trans temp gauge caught my eye! it was at 150 which at night in the winter even in florida it was 50 outside and on this same drive every other day i barly see 130 so i started to watch it closly and it kept slowly rising when i got home it was 165!! last time i saw it that how i was pulling my boat and it was 75 outside! what could this mean!!!
i must add i was babying it tonight!

As a SWAG here;;

Fluid full?
Color?
Smell?
Debris coating front of radiator area?
No slippage (in tranny) noted?

Gotta quit now. Head hurting. Brain exhausted. Need libation. Need rest. So Sleepy.

fluid is at or near top hot marker
color nice and pink
smells new
checked the front for any obstructions didnt find any
i didnt identify any slipping but shifts seemed softer when she was hot
or maybe its all in my head

The bypass valve could be leaking by not directing all the fluid thru the cooler. The spring weakens as it ages. The temp in my tranny went down 20deg after replacing mine.
