1959 model 35 bonanza and yes the nickname's "widowmaker" and "forked-tail doctor killer" fit it as it was a handful to fly but fast.
Yes it was. If I recall right, you had to fly it right down to the runway, not very forgiving.
I've got a few hours in a Beech Musketeer, I took to that like a duck to water, very nice airplane.

correct! straight line flying not much more, i've flown a few beasts, but that was one i will openly admit that after, i needed to change my skivvies.
Most Beechcraft Bonanza V Tail crashes are pilot error. Noted as a task heavy plane to fly, fuel management, run out of fuel with plenty on board, PS5C pressure carburetor. A habit at rotation to pull back on the controls is a problem, pilots do not know know their stall speed and you can stall any aircraft at any speed. Once gear up the plane is very sleek and the speed attracts many pilots.
Not sure how olde it was, but I had a friend that owned one. I remember him saying once that he had flown more enjoyable planes.
Basic physics tell us that these planes will behave differently than planes with two ailerons and a rudder. The rudder will provide basic left/right control and the ailerons up/down when synced, or roll when opposed.
This plane has to get 3 functions out of only two actions. It's probably best when used along with today's computerized controls.
These planes should have been reserved for the "can we do it?" askers.
i was going to ask if the jets could even fly slow enough to be in formation with the propeller plane.
Yes they can. A lot of military jets have some incredibly hard to believe low stall speeds. At the extreme lower end of the spectrum, at critical AoA, the F18 has a 70 knot stall speed.
A lot of air shows are now incorporating what they call (in a lot of cases) they Legacy Flight. Usually one or more WWII A/C along with one or more modern jets.
