400 question?

Is there any difference in the 400 block or components that went into the block if you have a 77 or a 78 or 79? If so, which would you rather have?

I don't think there is much difference between those years of engine.I think they are all smog engines.
Check in the engine forum and see what they have to say, lots of great info on those engines there.

400 Blocks were made at the Michican Casting Center "MCC" or the cleavland plant. The cleaveland casted blocks are considred better with less cylinder shift. Also the 77 and later blocks are supose to be a little heavyer built in the low end. I cant exactly remember but I think that on the michican blocks there is a M with two C's under and inside it cast neer the distrubuter on the block. I hope this helps.
