Edelbrock Intake

I was able to get a brand new Edelbrock 3766 intake for almost zero dollars. The difference is I am putting the engine in a 73 which does not need smog. The difference is the 3766 has the hole for the egr and needs a plate to cover it. The intake w/o egr is a 2166.

Does anyone know of an after market plate or is it something I have to make.

Thanks, I hope I was clear enough. I could take some pictures.

Just pump the EGR port full of high temp silicone.
If it works on the Thermactor ports in the exhaust side of the heads I don't see how it can't work on an intake manifold.

In the past when I have done to solve that issue is buy a EGR gasket and cut a piece of steel plate out and bolt in the place of egr. It will work now if you were going the other way(smog motor) you would have some issues. But Non smog no problem.

I welded a small plug into the hole in the plate. It is very flat and sitting on top of the heavy gasket it should work.

I tried high temp silicone before & it doesn't hold. It will burn out in short time. Try the plate.

An aluminum plate will also work and is a hell of a lot easier to work with than steel.

How about tapping the hole, and screwing in a threaded plug?

The hole seems more oblong than round I don't think that would work.

EGR

Same problem except I'd like to keep the stock intake. I plan to abandon the EGR valve in place. Still have about 3/4 inch stand off and the carb is insulated from direct manifold heat. You'd think somebody would make a 1 inch four hole spacer that cleanly blocks the EGR port, but I have not found one.

Abandoning in place is one expedient solution, but...I don't think the cast iron EGR spacer is doing much insulating.

Why would you want hot exhaust gas running through your intake manifold in a performance application?
So, there's no real market demand for an EGR block off spacer.
There are always 4 hole phenolic (insulating) spacers for around $15 on Ebay, like this one; http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Pheno...Q5fAccessories
With a 1/8" stainless steel plate patterned from the EGR gasket underneath it looks about as sanitary as it gets.

William, I spoke to Edelbrock about a spacer and because it has to do with smog they said they can't even discuss it. Edelbrock is a California company. They would not give me a source even if they knew of one. I had to make it.
