what are you talking about DAN? Ecoboost is a Ford term, and didn't come out until a few years ago - well after an 05 malibu was made.

I think the 4cyl option for the Malibus were something like a 2.2. Laurens Malibu has the 3.5 v6 but it still gets 28-30ish mpg

ecotech ecoboost whatever. it was a 2.2 with a 140mph speedo and i have no doubt that it would have been able to do 140 with ease without the limiter. the 5spd auto even had a +/- toggle to manually rail through the first 4 gears. car was sweet for being a gm pos, and was totally incogneto to the fuzz cause it looks like a grandma car.
