What I was taught in school was that you had to look at the entire piping system. A restriction like the turbo outlet is equivalent to "x" number of equivalent feet of straight pipe. Every restriction, elbow, expansion, or restriction had to be converted to equivalent length of straight pipe of a certain diameter. Performance will be based on the total system pressure drop. We see this at work when we design orifice plates for flow measurement. I guess what I am trying to say is that I believe you can still can gain a little w/ the 4" downpipe (how much gain is probably debatable though). What I am wrestling with is leaving the cat in. Beacause of this, I am looking to gain as much as I can in other areas. Maybe silly, but just thinking out loud. Also, my goal is EGT reduction - not sound. I prefer the stock sound!

Salt was mentioned, here is what happens to the lower grade stainless with salt on the roads....I would save a little more and buy the higher grade stainless if I were to do it over.

Someone mentioned a high flow Cat, if I wanted to go with a MBRP 4in turbo back and change out the cat from OEM which one would be a good choice and would it already come 4in so I could just bolt it on when I change out the exhaust this spring?
