ive had a pioneer avic n2 (cpn 1955) in the ol girl. but it has a short now and doesnt flip open and closed. just stays open. i just run up on a deal on cl for a pioneer avic f900bt. double din. the factory plug was hacked when i got the truck and i dont want to cut the wires unless i have to..
my question is does anybody know if the plug with the power wires are the same on the radios???
i know i could pull it out and compare them but im being lazy and i want to have everything ready so when i pull it out it doesnt go back in for me to run to the store to get the connectors

The powerplugs from similar stereos, even different brands are very very close to being the same. Since they are both Pioneers, I would say yes. I know the plug for my cheapy Dual is almost identical to the plug for my old Kenwood. Just a little tab on the kenwood harness that wouldn't let it plug in. I just snipped the little tab and it worked fine.
The experience I've had with stereos is somewhat limited but for the most part red and yellow are usually your power wires. One is hot all the time, the other is "key on" hot. Don't remember which is which. Both are usually fused at the head unit itself though. As far as the outputs go, all bets are off. Google?
I got off my lazy ase and went and pulled mine out. They are different
Yea sometimes ya just gotta do it. Try calling Car Toys or Best Buy and see if they have the harness adapters. Sometimes you can get harnesses to keep you from having to chop wires making it plug -n- play.

Only problem with that is the po hacked the factory plug out for the radio. So nothing to plug in to
You can get what's called a "reverse harness". It's basically a replacement for the factory plug. Simply splice the wires to the factory wires and you'll have an almost new OEM connector. Then you can get a normal Ford Adapter to splice into your head unit. Connect the two together and voila.
