I've decided to switch out my NP203 full time case with a NP205 part time case. There is a guy near me who says he has a "unmarried" t-case from a '78 F150.
What does he mean by "unmarried"? Any chance this is a NP205 case? My truck is a '78 F250.
Un married (or more commonly "divorced") means that it does NOT bolt directly to the back of your transmission. They utilize a short driveshaft between the transmission and transfer case. They used them in the earlier (up to mid '77 I beleive) F250's An unmarred unit would require some modification to fit your truck.
Is it common to break the drive shaft from the trans to the transfer case on a divorced setup? I'm debating whether or not to get rid of my divorced setup and switch to a married one anyone else have any pros/cons of each of them? I'd really like to hear what everyone has to say about them
A divorced T-case out of a 78 f150? Thats a new one to me. By mid 77 the divorced t-case was a thing of the past in f250's. Though ford made a few od ball's i dont think they ever put a divorced case in an f150, in 78 no less.
